API3

API3 was founded by three individuals with relevant experience in blockchain and software engineering: Heikki Vänttinen - Previously the founder and CEO of CLC Group, a blockchain lab, and the CMO of Zippie, a mobile operating system for blockchain. Burak Benligiray - Also previously worked at CLC Group as the CTO, and has written about the merits of ChainAPI, the integration platform for API3. Saša Milić - A software engineer who has worked at Facebook and as a simulation data scientist, as well as a sessional lecturer at the University of Toronto.

API3 is an ERC-20 token, meaning it is built on the Ethereum blockchain. As such, the security of the API3 network is derived from the security of the Ethereum network, which uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism to validate transactions and maintain the integrity of the blockchain.

As of January 2023 there are 13,847,549 API3 tokens in circulation, out of a maximum supply of 100 million tokens. The distribution breakdown is: 15 million tokens for pre-seed and seed investors 20 million tokens sold in a public sale 30 million tokens allocated to the founding team 10 million tokens for partners and contributors 25 million tokens in an ecosystem fund
