Within half an hour of the market opening, the S&P 500 index steadily rebounded, stabilizing after the previous day's panic sell-off. Earlier, U.S. President Trump stated that "the uncertainty of tariff policies could potentially trigger an economic recession," leading to a sharp decline in U.S. stocks.

Shortly after, Trump threatened to double tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum to 50%, reigniting market panic and causing the S&P 500 index to drop over 1.5% intraday.
During the afternoon session, Canada agreed to suspend a 25% surcharge on U.S. electricity exports, prompting Trump to announce the withdrawal of the 50% tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports. This news spurred the S&P 500 index to quickly rebound and erase its losses for the day.
