CIF/FOB Gulf Grain-Corn barge basis steady to higher on export news

CHICAGO, April 15 (Reuters) - Basis bids for corn delivered by barge to U.S. Gulf Coast terminals were steady to higher on Tuesday, after a spate of corn export news and as river shipping hurdles have continued to have barges back up, traders said.

* Meanwhile, basis bids for soybeans delivered by barge to the Gulf eased on limited supplies on the river and a lack of interest in farmer selling, traders said.

* The U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed private sales of 110,000 metric tons of U.S. corn for shipment to Portugal in the 2024/25 marketing year.

* It was the second reported corn export sale in two days, following Monday's news of private sales of 120,000 metric tons of U.S. corn for shipment to Japan in the 2024/25 marketing year.

* Repair work at Lock 27 on the Mississippi River, which has slowed movement of barges to the Gulf, is expected to be wrapped up this week, traders said. BG/US

* Traders said that either late Monday or early Tuesday, CIF Gulf soybean barges loaded in May traded at 82 cents over Chicago Board of Trade May SK25 futures.

* September soybean barge loadings also traded at 69 cents and 70 cents over CBOT November soybean SX25 futures, and October loadings traded at 70 cents over November futures, traders said.

* CIF Gulf soybean barges loaded in April were bid down 2 cents at 82 cents over CBOT May futures, while May loadings were bid at 81 cents over futures.

* Export premiums for soybeans loaded in April were offered down 1 cent at about 94 cents over May futures, while May shipment offers were steady at about 87 cents over futures.

* CIF Gulf corn barges loaded in April were bid at 75 cents over CBOT May CK25 futures, steady from Monday. However, some deferred contracts ticked higher, traders said.

* FOB export premiums for corn shipped in April were steady, offered at about 87 cents over futures.
