CHICAGO, April 14 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for soybeans were flat to higher at Midwestern river terminals and grain elevators, spot checks showed on Monday.
* Farmer selling is expected to be slow this week, keeping basis firm, as farmers take advantage of mostly dry weather to plant soy and corn crops, traders said.
* Planting has just begun in Midwestern states including Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data issued on Monday. Nationally, 2% of the soy crop and 4% of corn were planted as of Sunday.
* Chicago Board of Trade soybean futures closed mixed, with nearby contracts ending lower on profit-taking while deferred, new-crop contracts firmed a bit.
