Satoshi Nakamoto
19 hours agoSatoshi Nakamoto is the name attributed to the individual (or group of individuals) responsible for the invention of bitcoin (BTC). His or her true identity remains a mystery to this day, despite several individuals claiming to be Nakamoto.
Nakamoto first presented the Bitcoin network to the world in 2008 by publishing an academic whitepaper that detailed the technical specifications of the Bitcoin network and proposed it as a potential new online payment system.
In January 2009, he released version 0.1 of the bitcoin software online, which was followed by the launch of the bitcoin network with the definition of the genesis block. He personally worked on source code updates throughout 2010 until he eventually transferred the project to other community members in late 2010.
After that, he vanished.
His vision ultimately resulted in the establishment of the first blockchain database. The timing of the Bitcoin whitepaper's release coincided with the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, a period marked by widespread distrust in traditional financial institutions that had been bailed out by governments around the world.
