Japan shares lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.76%

Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Paper&Pulp and Communication sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.76%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902), which rose 7.29% or 40.90 points to trade at 602.10 at the close. Nidec Corp (TYO:6594) added 4.64% or 138.50 points to end at 3,123.00 and SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) was up 1.78% or 25.50 points to 1,455.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which lost 6.32% or 40.00 points to trade at 593.00 in late trade. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) declined 4.25% or 90.00 points to end at 2,030.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) shed 3.78% or 194.00 points to 4,945.00.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 3083 to 594 and 197 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 27.80.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.43% or 0.30 to $70.49 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.42% or 0.31 to hit $74.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 7.85 to trade at $2,741.05 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 151.98, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 164.41.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.98.
