Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Glass, Transportation Equipment and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (TYO:5802), which rose 11.51% or 268.50 points to trade at 2,600.50 at the close. Nomura Holdings Inc (TYO:8604) added 10.43% or 81.10 points to end at 858.70 and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) was up 7.82% or 43.00 points to 593.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yamaha Corp. (TYO:7951), which lost 13.21% or 164.50 points to trade at 1,081.00 in late trade. NH Foods Ltd (TYO:2282) declined 9.45% or 498.00 points to end at 4,772.00 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098) shed 3.44% or 314.00 points to 8,827.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2201 to 1367 and 286 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.09% to 26.03.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.04% or 0.03 to $71.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $75.08 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 3.10 to trade at $2,743.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.15% to 152.36, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 165.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 103.81.
