Fantom

The Fantom Foundation was founded by South Korean computer scientist Dr. Ahn Byung Ik. Currently, the platform's CEO is Michael Kong.

The Fantom network is secured by its Lachesis protocol, which is the core consensus layer. Lachesis is an Asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerant (aBFT) Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism that uses a directed acyclic graph (DAG) algorithm. This design provides security at maximum speed and efficiency for the entire network.

The total supply of FTM tokens is 3.17 billion. The current circulating supply is 2.8 billion FTM, which means that over 88.3% FTM tokens are currently in circulation and accessible to users and investors. The remaining FTM tokens, which make up the difference between the total supply and the circulating supply, will be gradually released according to a schedule running through 2023. This controlled release of the remaining tokens is an important part of the Fantom tokenomics, as it helps maintain the scarcity and value of the FTM token over time.
