Belgium shares higher at close of trade; BEL 20 up 0.61%

Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.61% to hit a new 52-week high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which rose 3.00% or 0.33 points to trade at 11.33 at the close. Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) added 2.88% or 2.09 points to end at 74.61 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 2.52% or 0.85 points to 34.58 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Elia (EBR:ELI), which lost 2.01% or 2.10 points to trade at 102.60 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.54% or 0.42 points to end at 26.92 and Proximus NV (EBR:PROX) shed 1.33% or 0.10 points to 7.06.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 30 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.62% or 16.10 to $2,614.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.19% or 1.53 to hit $71.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.91% or 1.41 to trade at $75.06 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.30% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 100.43.
