Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Automobiles&Parts and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were M3 Inc (TYO:2413), which rose 6.48% or 110.50 points to trade at 1,815.50 at the close. Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:5801) added 6.20% or 217.00 points to end at 3,718.00 and IHI Corp. (TYO:7013) was up 5.40% or 415.00 points to 8,095.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included TOTO Ltd. (TYO:5332), which lost 12.61% or 621.00 points to trade at 4,303.00 in late trade. Tokuyama Corp. (TYO:4043) declined 3.68% or 100.50 points to end at 2,630.00 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) shed 1.74% or 137.00 points to 7,718.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2770 to 830 and 247 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 19.54% to 25.86.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.22% or 0.15 to $67.23 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.21% or 0.15 to hit $70.85 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 10.00 to trade at $2,765.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.22% to 152.95, while EUR/JPY fell 0.26% to 165.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.18.
