Who are the founders of Moonbeam?

Moonbeam was founded in 2019 by Derek Yoo, the CEO of PureStake, a platform that provides blockchain infrastructure to projects and enterprises. The Moonbeam team is composed of experienced professionals, including Stefan Mehlhorn, an executive with a proven track record, as well as specialists in marketing and business development.

What makes Moonbeam unique?

Moonbeam's key differentiator is its ability to provide an Ethereum-like development environment on top of the Substrate framework, which powers the Polkadot ecosystem. This allows developers to leverage their existing Ethereum tools and smart contracts with minimal changes, while also tapping into the benefits of Polkadot, such as scalability, interoperability, and shared security. Moonbeam aims to make it easy for Ethereum developers to "go multi-chain" and extend their reach into the Polkadot network.

How is the Moonbeam network secured?

Moonbeam utilizes Polkadot's nominated proof-of-stake consensus mechanism to secure the network. Holders of GLMR tokens have the right to propose referenda, vote, and elect council members, providing a decentralized governance model. Additionally, Moonbeam benefits from the scalability and security provided by Polkadot's sharded design and shared security umbrella.
